Career in Aeronautical Engineering

Career in Aeronautical Engineering

What is Aeronautical Engineering?

Aeronautical engineering is the field of engineering, in which the work related to the study of techniques or flight-capable machines to operate the aircraft, design and development related work is involved.

This course provides students with training related to construction, designing, testing and analysis of commercial or military aircraft, missiles and spacecrafts. Aeronautical engineering includes topics related to propulsion, material sciences, avionics and aerodynamics.

This course also includes the study of the development of new technologies in commercial aviation, defense systems and space exploration.

Educational Qualifications for an Aeronautical Engineer

Students, who want to pursue a career as an aeronautical engineer, are advised that they should start preparing for their careers as well as keeping their full focus in science and mathematics from their high school days.

Students who have successfully passed 12th class or have obtained similar qualification with PCM / PCB subjects, they can apply for giving entrance exams for aeronautical engineering under B.Tech Course. You need at least 60% of marks for most entrance exams.

Those students who are currently passing the 12th class may also apply for the test, but those students will have to submit their qualifying certificates at the time of admission.

Only those students who are between the ages of 17 to 25 years can apply for tests. Candidates of reserved categories have been given 5 years grace in age limit.

For MTech Courses, candidates should have a B.Tech degree with minimum pass percentage in all subjects at the degree level with minimum pass percentage.

Exam pattern for the B.Tech program
For the Graduation Level Course, the following questions are asked in the test:
1.      Physics
2.      Chemistry
3.      Mathematics
The questions that are asked are objective and students have to choose the correct answer from the 4 options given with each question. The duration of this exam is 3 hours.

Jobs opportunity for Aeronautical Engineers

Now we have the information that Aeronautical Engineers do all the work related to design, development and maintenance of aircraft to ensure high level technical preference and safe operation. They work together with Aircraft Maintenance Engineers and Flight Maintenance Teams. In India, most of the aeronautical engineers provide the following governmental organization jobs:
Civil Aviation Department
Government owned air services
National Aeronautical Laboratory
Defense Research and Development Laboratories (DRDO) and
Ministry of Defense
Airlines
Corporations
Flying Clubs
Private airlines
Aeronautical Development Establishments
Aircraft Manufacturers
Aeronautical Laboratories

Some job international government agencies such as NASA also offer. Many of the engineers and technical professionals working in NASA are Indians. There are many job opportunities available for Aeronautical Engineers in countries like USA, France, UK and Germany.
